A2Z Student, Delecia Utley, named DPS Student of Month
Delecia Utley named November Student of the Month
Hillside High senior Delecia Utley has been named the Duke University Durham Public Schools Student of the Month for November.
Ms. Utley is a member of the softball team, a majorette in the band, a cheerleader, a dancer with Nina’s School of Dance, and also serves as treasurer of Hillside’s Ladies of Kappa League chapter. She also volunteers with Brown’s Day Care and Meals on Wheels in her spare time.
In addition to all of her extra curricular activities, Delecia has also been recognized as the Distinguished Young Woman of Durham County by the national scholarship program Distinguished Young Women formerly known as America’s Jr. Miss program.
Delecia maintains a 4.99 GPA and says she would like to attend Howard University and major in biology where she hopes to pursue a career in the medical field or research.
